Car Credit Finance Can Be Confusing

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

When looking for car credit finance it can be confusing. The terms and conditions that come with loans are filled with jargon that isn’t always explained clearly and APR can be misleading if you don’t know what you are looking at, sometimes giving the impression that you are getting a cheap loan when in fact it doesn’t work that way once additional costs and fees have been added in.

Unless you absolutely know everything about car credit finance then you are better off going to a specialist car finance provider and relying on their expertise to find you the best deal with the cheapest APR. The APR is the rate of interest that you pay, but some lenders will quote APR rates for weekly or monthly terms which can be confusing when making comparisons, making it difficult to calculate the over cost of the borrowing.

Before you put your loan into the hands of a specialist you have to first determine how much you can realistically afford to borrow and pay back. You also have to decide if a fixed rate of interest would be better or a variable rate. A specialist can help you decide and you also have to define a line between how much you can afford to pay back each month. The longer you take out the loan then the more interest will be added onto it whilst the monthly repayments will be smaller. However, if you can afford to pay a little more each month then you can take out the loan for less number of years and so pay less interest.

Buying Used Cars Tips

If you planed to buy an used car, it is important not only to find the car you like but you may also need to take some precautions like checking the car history, taking a test drive, knowing its book value or taking an extended warranty.

Check the car’s history

An essential factor when car browsing is to learn the car’s history. This entails finding a reliable source as to whether the automobile has ever been flooded or involved in an automobile accident. Before agreeing to buy used cars, consumers may obtain a CarFax report at www.carfax.com or by requesting that their local dealer provide a copy. There is a minimal fee involved in acquiring the report, but the findings are invaluable. For instance, the number of owners and the title status are both included in a CarFax report.

Car Buying Behaviours and the Celebrity Factor

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Buying a car can be hard enough; do I want a hatchback, saloon, 4-door, 2-door, convertible, four-wheel drive? How much can I afford to pay for insurance? Furthermore, being given the hard sell in the dealership showroom can add more pressure. However, do we need the hard sell or have we already subconsciously made a decision on the car we would like to buy?

Studies have shown that many customers do not need the hard sell, but instead just a picture to show off the features of the car. We’ve all probably seen an advert on television or a picture in a magazine or newspaper, which has made us look at the car and want to have one on the spot! Obviously, it aids the customer if the picture is of something sleek and stylish rather than a rust-bucket, which is why the desirability of vehicles such as a sporty hatchback is high.

Manufacturers are clever in the way that they’ll do this. You’ll notice on more occasions than not with car adverts that the price provided is not for the car you are seeing. The picture of the car will be the top of the range version with all of the possible extras, but in fact the price you’ll be told is the “starting from” price for the lowest car in its’ range. The price for the actual car you are viewing will usually be in small print at the bottom of the advert.

Do, however, the roles of celebrities come into play in persuading us to purchase a certain make or type of car? I believe that they do.
