Buyer Beware………..Flood Vehicles !!

With the hurricanes and flooding that has hit in the south recently there are hundreds of thousands of vehicles that have moderate to severe flood damage.

Some of these vehicles that have not been completely submerged will be cleaned up, freshner sprayed into carpets and vents and shipped North, East and West.

The people who deal in these vehicles get them dirt cheap and do some clean up and then ship them out to the unsuspecting public. These vehicles will look normal but after buying one of them you will most likely develope serious problems down the road.

These vehicles will have mold started that you won’t be able to detect for some time and the odor will be covered up with some strong sprays that will hide the problem for several weeks/months. But then one warm day sfter being closed up in the sun you will open the door to a musty odor that will start to become worse each day until after a while it will be unbearable.

The odor may be the least of your problems for after a vehicle is submerged in water for any length of time the water and grit is in the engine, transmission, differential all the wheel bearings and working parts. So after driving the vehicle a few hundred miles you will start to develope major failures to these components.

Big Hearts On Big Bikes

Trust a woman to make sweeping changes for the better.

For years, motorcycle riders have always had a certain infamous reputation. Especially when they travel in packs, motorcycle riders are feared by others. They are often depicted by media, particularly in films, as the proponents of massive brawls and unprovoked violence. Furthermore, bikers are often stereo typed as people who are uneducated and have nothing better to do than terrorize people as they move from bar to bar, transported by their big bikes.

This kind of behavior and reputation however, does not precede the various, responsible motorcycle bike riders that all happen to be women. Although associations of women motorcycle riders have been established since decades ago, the growing number of responsible motorcycle riding women along with their numerous contributions to society are only beginning to constantly garner attention and praise. At last, motorcycle riders, particularly, female motorcycle riders have been able to revise popular opinion about how they are perceived.

Going beyond promoting the wearing of helmets when riding motorcycles, these women riders from different women riders associations, help each other and help society as a whole with their various activities. Common activities done during meetings within these women bike rider groups are talks on safety on the riding as well as practical, do it yourself troubleshooting for motorcycles.

Best Hybrid Cars

With more and more car manufacturers designing hybrid vehicles, it’s getting easier to find a vehicle that both meets your needs and has the money saving and environmental benefits that you want. While it’s easier to find vehicles, it may be hard to decipher the various aspects of each mass market hybrid, so here’s a quick and simple guide to finding the best hybrid cars for your family’s needs.

When many people think of the best hybrid cars, they immediately think of the first two hybrids to be released on the market: the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight. Of these, and really of all the hybrids widely available, the Insight gets the best gas mileage at 57-60 mpg for city driving and 56-66 on the highway. This two seater is also the cheapest of the group and makes an excellent commuter car for those who drive long distances, but is not very practical for grocery shopping or family vacations. The Prius on the other hand, probably ranks among the best hybrid cars available overall. A little pricier than the Insight, this vehicle gets around 60 mpg in the city but only about 51 miles per gallon for highway driving. With a roomy interior that seats five, and its standard hatchback, this car is much more practical than the Insight for most people’s useage. Sedans and Family Vehicles.

Tricks to Purchasing the Perfect Motorcycle Helmet

You cannot choose a helmet based on its size or the material it’s made from alone. There are many things that need to be considered when purchasing motorcycle helmets. Sure, it’s probably possible to locate a helmet that is the right color or that is made from the type of material that will satisfy your safety concerns, but when it comes to “proper fit” it opens up a whole new can of worms. It is so important to consider the “safety factor.” Some motorcycle helmets are just not as safe as others and you should be aware of this.

Some of the more popular motorcycle helmet manufacturers are Icon, Arai, Shoei, Suomy, Erex, Bell, HJC and Nolan. The majority of their helmets are approved by DOT or Snell. There are many other makers, but these are some of the better known companies.

When it comes to safety there are two major concerns. One, how is your visibility? How is your peripheral vision? Can you see enough of the surrounding area to be safe? If your visibility is poor your chances of being in an accident can increase dramatically. And two, if you are involved in an accident will your head be protected as well as you’d like? Will the material that the helmet is made from stand up to the test, to the punishment?

Many motorcyclists or bikers look solely at the aesthetic qualities of a helmet and disregard safety when looking to purchase a helmet. But in reality it should be viewed oppositely. Safety should always come first.

The main options you have when searching for the perfect motorcycle helmet are color, shape, visibility and liners. Color is the easiest decision to make, right? Wrong. As far as the safety factor goes you should be able to be seen well by other drivers. Bright colors stand out and are very noticeable, even at night, while dull dark colors are not seen easily. It’s very important to choose a bright color that can be seen easily by other drivers, even at night.
